Treats in our Streets!

Looking for a way to enjoy some trick-or-treating and enjoy some of the amazing businesses in downtown Burlington?

This Saturday from 10am-1pm, the BDBA (Burlington Downtown Business Association) will be hosting the annual Treats in our Streets celebration! Come down to ether Civic Square or Emma’s Back Porch to pick up a map and complimentary treat bag before your start your route.  There are all sorts of activities along the route as well as the chance to see a community of businesses.

It’s becoming a popular event.  It started in 2012 and has grown each year, “Last year we estimated an attendance of treats 2approximately 1500 little Ghouls and Goblins trick-or-treating downtown,” said Samantha Statham. Statham is the Events and Marketing Manager at the BDBA; “Events like Treats in our Streets illustrate the best values of our community,” she added.

Not only has there been a rise in attendance each year, there have also been an increase in the number of businesses wanting to take part.  Statham says that it promotes the idea of ‘shopping local’ and reinforces connectedness within the community.  You get to know some of the awesome business owners in the downtown community.

Treats in our Streets, “Allows businesses to showcase their location to potential new clients and encourages families to explore new corners of downtown,” Statham said.

City Hall

Emma’s

  1. K-Lite Cruiser
  2. Kids Zone in the Lodge
  3. Crafts and Colouring
  4. Skate and Swim Passes for each child in costume

Village Square

  1. Pony Rides & Petting Zoo (Donations to United Way are Optional)
  2. Halloween Activities for Kids and Treats for Parents from Lake of Bays Brewery
